It is Very Rare to come across such a Spectacular Antique Locket. The decoration & quality is just so
typical of the Edwardian era the period of opulence - with fabulous
ornamentation. The front features a stunning rich repousse or embossed and
chased design which is achieved by hammering on the reverse with great effect.
It includes cabbage Roses the Ambassadors of Love and Forget-Me-No flowers
and a variety of foliate details accented by arced bands encrusted with clear
and dazzling paste stones. While the body of the locket is of a yellow gold hue
with the contrast of both smooth and textured finishes, the flowers are a rich yellow
while the foliage is a green gold a Wonderful contrast. The pictures show the
tremendous extent of the detail which is amazing you wont find anything new
like it today.
The back is plain & smooth with the monogram MS. Inside are the
original frames and clear covers.
It is suspended from a fixed ring and comes complete with the
chain it came to me on it would not be original but has lovely filigree elements
on a rope style brass chain.
The locket has that rich yellow & green gold hue and the
silky smooth feel usually only associated with solid carat gold which is to be
expected of quality antique jewellery.
